i had something problem to ask~

2day ago ,one  router 7609 had its' self-power-on,by show ver list as

7609 uptime is 2 days, 7 hours, 34 minutes
Time since 7609 switched to active is 2 days, 7 hours, 33 minutes
System returned to ROM by power-on (SP by error - a Software forced crash, PC 0x401A4270)
System image file is "sup-bootflash:s72033-psv-mz.122-18.SXD1.bin"

what's it PC 0x401A4270 means? it caused by ios bug or anythings else?

Hello,

Look like it is hit by bug:CSCsb34983 but what you can do because there is no workaround.

Well it is good idea to log a case with cisco with output you already have (crashinfo).

If this is first occurance relax else matter is serious and you should push cisco for early response.

Hi,

My suggestion is open a TAC case, they can   decode the tracebacks and find  the cause of the crash. Most of the time 99.9%, these crashes are due to software and rarely due to hardware.

The crashinfo you have attached is from the Switch Processor (SP).

Here is the key indication from it:

%C6K_PLATFORM-SP-2-PEER_RESET: SP is being reset by the RP

The actual crash occurred on the Route Processor (RP).

The SP crashinfo was stored on the sup-bootflash: or sup-bootdisk: drive.

The RP crashinfo will be stored on the bootflash: drive.  That is the crashinfo file you will need to provide to the TAC engineer when you open the case.

It is always a good idea to provide a 'show tech' when opening a case also.

This crashinfo shows the system as running 12.2(18)SXD1.  This is an obsolete and deferred IOS.

If you have to run SXD it should be SXD7b.

At a minimum every switch running SXD1 is going to crash once every 40 to 50 weeks due to

CSCsb98702 Breakpoint (signal 5 exception) when ltl profiling
