What switch to replace 6509 ?

Hi

We are looking at a core upgrade over the next 12 months, currently we have a 6509 with mix of 48 port rj45, SFP gigabit modules as well as a 12 port 10gig module in each.

I am not sure about the 6800 as I hear it has not taken off that well etc.

The Nexus is just too much to invest as we dont require high throughput etc.

What would be a good switch to look at, approx 7-8 year lifespan

cheers

If you looking to go with new models, cisco have new models Catalyst 9000 for Core and Distribution for Campus LAN

Have a look at the models.

@carl_townshend I would recommend 9407R . Cheaper than the 6800s. Get a pair or run 2 sups in one unit for some redundancy. You can use stackwise virtual feature if you get a pair with sup1XL which is like (VSS) and run multi chasis etherchannel to your endpoints to get more bandwidth. more than good investment for next 10 years
