Hi, I typed the below configuration at a new router, but why enable mode disappear when I use u15 to login? It also means that after I typed username u15 and password u15, it directly entered privilege mode without needing enable password cisco. thank you
-------------------------------------------------------------
username u15 privilege 15 password 0 u15
enable password cisco
line con 0
login local

Can you try this on the router and check if this is working:-
username test password 0 test
enable password test.
wr
exit
exit
and relogin with username test and check if you are getting the enable command?

Hello,
The difference is privilage level. Your configuration bypasses the need to enter password to go to privilaged mode. Once you login, you will be in privilage mode.
Thanks,
Madhu.

Thanks for your reply. Yes, it can work well with your config. the difference is that my user is privilege 15, while your user test is privilege 1. So that also means user with privilege 15 does not need enable password, is it right ?

AS updated to you by collegue as well. Here is the reason when you have enabled privilege level 15 that means it will byforget the other parameters and enters directly into the privilege level(switch#) rather then asking you for the enable password.
