If you are using Wireshark, Filter for "tcp.analysis.duplicate_ack".

how many seconds should we use count the number of duplicate ack?

what is the period to use when count number of duplicate ack?

Really I don't care about "time period" for the dup. Acks., I care about its origins, type of duplicated packets and it's impact on network performance. But if you want me to say something  about "time period" then I will choose to count duplication for approximately 20 sec.
