Hi,

Using vlan and SVI to manage the switch, you have to ride the network and if the network is not available you can't reach the switch.  On the other hand terminal server connect to devices using console ports. As long as you can reach the terminal server you can reach the devices. So, you could say, its in band vs out of band.

Hi, Thank you so much for your excellent explanation!

But if the network has a lot devices, for example hundred or thousand devices, is it possible for us still to use terminal server to connect them ?
