WIC-1B-U card and 2610XM router

Hi,

I have a 2610XM router. On the router, I have only one fastethernet port and two blank WIC slots and one blank network module slot. When it starts, a error message says:

Slot is empty or does not support clock participate

WIC slot is empty or does not support clock participate

Then I bought a WIC-1B-U card and installed it on W0 slot, the error message remains there.

Here are my questions:

(1). none of the LED(B1,B2,NT1) on the WIC card is on. Is this normal? Does this mean that my router can not recognize the card?

(2). I checked the documents before I bought the WIC. It seems that WIC-1B-U does work with 2610XM. Can anyone confirm this issue?

(3). Is it a possible reason that corresponding configuration need to be set on the router to make it work? If so, what configuration do I need?

Thanks

Joe

Hi,

The simplest way to find out whether the WIC-1BU has been detected and accpted on a router is to go through the sh version output.

You should be seeing something similar to this:

Thanks to both of you.

To owillins:

Thanks but this does not work.I tried:

no network-clock-participate slot 1

no network-clock-participate wic 0

The error remains and all the LED are off.

----------------------------------------------

To Wilson:

My start up output does have the message of

1 ISDN Basic Rate interface

Hmmm, this prove that 2610XM does work with the card.

----------------------------------------------

To both of you and all:

It turns out I made a stupid mistake--I choose the wrong card. My internet connection is not ISDN based.

I'm trying to set up a subnetwork and using the 2610xm router (and a 2950 switch) to connect it with an university campus network. I think I should use an ethernet card(e.g. WIC-1ENET), am I right?

However, I found that, in the document, WIC-1ENET is not mentioned to be work with 2610XM. Can you guys give me a confirmation about the new choice? Or do you have better suggestion.

I've maken a mistake on buying the wrong card, which wasted money and time. I don't want to make the same mistake again. It would be very nice if someone with the similar experience can give me advice.

Thanks

Joe
