Hi folks,
Anybody had experience of WOL and timed ACLs on switchports, please?
Current scenario is switchports' ACL only permits IP during working hours (defined in a time-range) but we want to roll-out the 1E WOL & NightWatchman tool to reduce workstation power consumption.
I can see an impending problem here, in that the port is shut (to IP) when WOL arrives.
Question is: Can I modify the ACL to sniff the WOL packets, or is there a better way?
Regards,
Andy.

Wake-On LAN packets are Layer2 while your ACL, as stated, are functioning at Layer3.

In conclusion, the WOL process won't be prevented by the ACLs.
