Hi,
About couple of weeks i've faced with strange problem.
It happens so,one of our workstations get ip conflict often, maybe twice a day or twice a week.
After troubleshooting, inspecting windows error log i was able find MAC addresses which causes conflicts.
I did not find any PCs mac addresses as usually, only some SWs addresses.
And not all of these switches have active connections.
So,some of mac addresses belongs to switches itself,to outgoing ports.
All what we have on access level 3560,2960, and core 4506,6509
Could you please help me,how it's possible switch itself can cause ip conflict and how diagnose this issue?
Thanks in advance.

Hi you need to find the duplicate ip address in the network not the mac , are the logs displaying the message %IP-4-DUPADDR: , trace the mac address at layer 2 see where its connected and what ip address it has
show mac-address-table add x.x.x
someone could have set a static for an ip thats been given out by dhcp

Hi,
There is no any interesting records in the log.
I'm sure, this is not ip conflict by other PC,because every time i get this error from different network destinations.
All what i have for today is the list of MAC addresses which caused ip conflicts.
All of these MAC addresses belongs to Cisco switches. And most of them have no any active connections.Just lugged to the network without any active ports.
