i had a hub connected to a bpdu enabled interface that triggered the bpdu guard and got the interface into err-disable , my question is would a hub cause this? and why? and would a hub pose any harm to my network???

should not have ,not really as hubs know nothing of bpdus they don't see them , unless you have some form of smarthub that acts like a switch or bridge
you can check with the below command , stick you hub back in it and watch the bpdu counter
#sh spanning-tree interface GigabitEthernet2/0/1 d
Port 55 (GigabitEthernet2/0/1) of VLAN0001 is designated forwarding
Port path cost 19, Port priority 128, Port Identifier 128.55.
Designated root has priority 8193, address 34bd.c87c.9480
Designated bridge has priority 8193, address 34bd.c87c.9480
Designated port id is 128.55, designated path cost 0
Timers: message age 0, forward delay 0, hold 0
Number of transitions to forwarding state: 1
The port is in the portfast mode
Link type is point-to-point by default
BPDU: sent 5647087, received 0
