Writing Cisco IOS to NVRAM

Trying to brush up on IT skills is hard and expensive, but I've been trying to push through and learn all I can. I just purchased last week a Cisco 1841 router. The CompactFlash has been removed and the nvram routes to RomMon mode when it boots up. I have flashed the Cisco IOS that I have via TFTPDNLD mode and for some reason it always boots back to RomMon mode. Is there a way to write the Cisco IOS to memory and make it so that it boots the IOS software as opposed to RomMon mode?

I'm also going to make a video about this which I will feature on my YouTube channel.

Any help would be appericated.

So you can get the router to fully load with the IOS but when it boots it goes to ROMMON ?

If so what is your configuration register setting ?

A "sh ver" will tell you.

Try setting your configuration registry to 0x2102.

from the rommon 1 prompt type.

rommon 1 >confreg 0x2102

after applying this setting power cycle the device and see if it now boots with the IOS image
