Hi Team,

I recently purchased WS-C2960-24-S switch and I wanted to ask the following questions:

1. What is the difference between NVRAM, ROM, flash-simulated non-volatile and each additional memory type and how each memory type is defined on the system?

2. What is the logical (i.e. "bs","nvram") and psychical implementation of each memory type on the device board?

3. What is the "-p" flag of "boot" command on the boot loader used for and how can I access the JTAG on the board?

4. To which memory does the boot loader loads the firmware to?

5. Is there a detailed datasheet which describes the board components?

6. Where does the boot loader environment variables are saved?

Thanks.

Hi,

Below is the details.

NVRAM -> means Non-volatile random-access memory (NVRAM.It means if power goes off or power down the device then memory will be erased. Also running configuration will be started in NVRAM.

ROM --> means Read only memory . Memory content will not be erased when if power goes off . Start-up configuration will be stored in ROM. This memory is needed for store IOS and Boot sequence etc.

Boot loader and firmware is loaded in the ROM memory .

Boot loader environment variables are saved in ROM memory .
