WS-C4500X-32 VSS reconstruction

Hey guys!

I got two WS-C4500X-32 and their are in VSS mode.

Currently, they are both physically in the same rack, which doesn't make sense.

I want to move one of them to another rack.

All my switches are connected via portchannel to both switches of the VSS, so they won't lose their connection.

My question is: Can I just power off one of the vss switches, move it and power it back on, without any problems?

Are there any obstacles?

Hi
Yes you can just make sure everything's saved before you do it and i would also check make sure you shut down the standby switch in terms of failover so there should be no convergence at all
show switch virtual redundancy

how can I determine the standby switch?

There aren't any VSS LEDs at the switches.

The command i posted , it will show you which switch is the active one and the standby
.......show switch virtual redundancy

You can jump into the other switch with the remote comamnds as well from the active switch

remote login switch-id 2 module1

I got that, but how can I determine them physically?

6500s the VSS Active switch supervisor is usually green and the standby orange , your best off logging in and confirming if there are no leds to check

@Mark Malone

I managed to identify the standby switch.

So I shutdown the standby switch, replace it, connect the VSS Interfaces, and power it back on?

The standby switch connects automatically back to the vss?
