Hello All,
This is my first post, so apologise if I have no followed protocol. I have also trawled several sources to try and find an answer, but no success.
I have recently upgraded x2 6509-E's with dual WS-SUP720-3B's to 12.2(33)SXJ6, I am using SSO.
Everyting appears to be working correctly accept the detection of the bootdisk (Internal flash).
We need minimum of 8.4(2) SP rommon version to get the internal flash disk recognized and I only have one card at 8.5(3), all others are at 8.1(3):
Chassis #1
5 2 Supervisor Engine 720 (Active) WS-SUP720-3B SAL1002A4BQ
6 2 Supervisor Engine 720 (Hot) WS-SUP720-3B SAD090303EU
5 0014.a981.d908 to 0014.a981.d90b 4.5 8.1(3) 12.2(33)SXJ6 Ok
6 0011.21a1.796c to 0011.21a1.796f 4.1 8.1(3) 12.2(33)SXJ6 Ok
Chassis #2
5 2 Supervisor Engine 720 (Active) WS-SUP720-3B SAL1009EUFV
6 2 Supervisor Engine 720 (Hot) WS-SUP720-3B SAL10403TCR
5 0014.a981.d888 to 0014.a981.d88b 4.5 8.1(3) 12.2(33)SXJ6 Ok
6 0017.9441.d44c to 0017.9441.d44f 5.9 8.5(3) 12.2(33)SXJ6 Ok <<<< 8.5
Router#dir slavesup-bootdisk:
Directory of slavesup-bootdisk:/

2 -rw- 33554432 Aug 6 2013 10:10:08 +00:00 sea_log.dat
I cannot access the bootdisk on Chassis #1
Router#dir slavesup-bootdisk
%Error opening disk0:/slavesup-bootdisk (File not found)
Router#
There do not appear to be any FPD's in either chassis:
Router#show hw-module all fpd
% No cards with FPD support can be found in the system.

So, my question is how can I upgrade the FW on the three SUP's running 8.1 to 8.5?
Thanks.

Are you sure your older sup720s physically have a bootdisk? NB: older sup720s have bootflash, unless they've been hardware upgraded.
BTW, ROMMON firmware upgrades are fairly easy, although with one of them (don't recall whether for RP or SP) I recall there's special procedure for upgrading across one of the versions. Release notes will describe.
Also BTW, I think your 8.x is RP ROMMON. Are you also sure you need to upgrade the RP and not the SP or both?
