WS-X45-SUP8-E: %SFF8472-5-THRESHOLD_VIOLATION

Hello,

I got a WS-X45-SUP8-E Core switch with TenGigabitEthernet ports.
one of the port on the core give the following error:
%SFF8472-5-THRESHOLD_VIOLATION: Te5/4: Rx power low warning; Operating value: -12.4 dBm, Threshold value:  -9.9 dBm.
The other switch connected on this link doesn't.

It also doesn't seem like a Bug because the rest of the port are up and running just fine, same switches and SFP.
I already changed the SFP and patch kabels.

any ideas??

Thanks.

Dear Johan,

Just to ensure where the problem lying, is it possible for you to move the same set of SFPs and Fiber to know good working port to see if the problem follows you. ?

Thanks,

Madhu.

Hello Johan,

it says Rx Power low.

Have you replaced the SFP at the other end. Hope that helps to fix it.

Hello,

i changed the patches between 2 switches and now we got the error on a other switch. so the fiber between the core and access switches is giving the problems.

in the on coming weeks where going to replace the fiber cable.

MANY THANKS!!!

It means the SFP+ on Ten5/4 is drawing low power from the line card.  Either replace the SFP+ or re-seat the SFP+.
