Hey Guys,
After some weeks playing with QoS config on a 4507 with a SUP2+, I was excited to find a new version of code available. Reading the doco at the following link indicated my problems might be solved:
The following section is of interest:
=====
?Policing for individual and aggregate policers can occur in ingress and egress interfaces.
?With the Supervisor Engine V-10GE (WS-X4516-10GE), 8192 policers are supported on ingress and on egress.
?With all other supervisor engines, 1024 policers are supported on ingress and on egress.
=====
My 4507 with SUP2+ has a limit of 512 policers on ingress. I quickly upgraded in hope that somehow the new software had increased the limit (yeah, I know I was pushing it).
Guess what, its still 512. Now that I look back to the 'Cisco Systems, Inc. Catalyst 4500 Series Switch Cisco IOS Software Configuration Guide, 12.2(31)SGA' the doco was wrong there too.
Is this something that might ever be changed?

norgs,
use the "feedback" form to tell your findings to cisco. Over the years, I've found many times that the people behind it are attentive and willing to correct the documentation as needed.
Unless of course the real complaint is about not having all the policers that you need :)
