Assign PMP License to specific users without TMS

Hello guys,

Im developing video conferencing environment on my customer with this specification :

- CUCM ver 11.x

- Telepresence Conductor XC4.0 (only 1)

- vTelepresence Server ver 4.2  (only 1)

My problem is im using PMP License, not Screen License. So i really confuse how to Assign the PMP license to specific users.

i already insert the license to Conductor like the picture below :

pmp license

the multiparty license status on conductor said i already have 25 PMP license but 0 assign. and it said if i made a conference call , it used SMP license, so the error lack of SMP license always come. So i need to binding 1 PMP license to my user / ext to remove the error warning.

Can i do it without TMS ?

if can, please help me about that.

Thanks all.

Best Regards,

Cholid.

If you're trying to use CMR Premises with Conductor and TelePresence Server, you'll need TMS with TMSPE installed to manage the user's CMRs and assign the PMP licenses to users.  Refer to the CMR Premises Deployment Guide 1.7 for CUCM.

Hi Patrick,

Thanks for your explanation.

what i already read from the TMS installation guide , my question :

1. TMS running under windows server. so i need to install windows server first, then install TMS. Then i see microsoft sql server on the requirement. Do i must install microsoft sql server ?

2. Im using Be6K High-Dencity. So how many resource i need to cover TMS development ? how many vcpu/ram/harddisk space ? could you please help me to calculate that ? this is just a small environment. only use 1 vTS / bridge, maximum 5 concurent HD calls.

3. Do i really / must Sync CUCM to LDAP / Active Directory for the cucm end user to using multiparty licensing ?

Sorry for the question, im really new and still learning on telepresence. Hope you can help me.

Thanks.

Best Regards,

Cholid.

You can install TMS, TMSPE, and SQL all on the same Windows VM, refer to the install guides on the software and hardware requirements.

Virtualization for Cisco TelePresence Management Suite

TMS Installation and Upgrade Guide (15.2.1)

TMSPE with Cisco Unified CM Deployment Guide (1.7)

I don't think it's required to import users from AD if you don't want to, it does make it easier to manage users though.

Hi Patrick,

Wow , thank you very much for all the refference link you give. thats very usefull.

So my last question is, you sure no need to sync CUCM to AD / any LDAP to manage multiparty licensing through TMSPE?

because i ask cisco TAC yesterday, they mention that it "must" the CUCM end user sync from the same LDAP wtih TMSPE. That means, TMSPE get the group of users who got the PMP license is from the same LDAP/AD like the CUCM sync.

So my assumption is TMSPE cannot got a group of users directly to CUCM end user local database. If TMS need a group of users from CUCM to manage the license, it need sync to same LDAP/AD like CUCM does. Am i right ?

*sorry for bad grammar.

Thanks.

Cholid

The recommendation is to use use AD to import the users into CUCM and TMSPE to ensure that all the same users are added.  However, you could possibly manually create users in CUCM and TMSPE as long as the details between the two systems are the same, notably the video address as that will identify the user as the CMR host.

Thank you very much Patrick,

thats all enough for me now.

thanks again sir, have a nice day.

best regards,

Cholid

Hi,

I have a similar installation where customer won't use LDAP. So all manually, ON CUCM and TMS/TMSPE

Where exactly is the match made between CUCM/TMSPE? You say video address, but where is the video address defined in both systems?

When I create a conference with CMR I can see that PMP license is used, but with ad-hoc SMP (which customer doesn't have)

Thanks

Jan

Since you say PMP licenses are being used for CMRs, then you must have everything setup correct.  Reading back over the CMR guides, all that is needed is to create/import users and deploy Collaboration Meeting Rooms.  From what I can see, once someone joins a CMR, Conductor will allocate a PMP license, if none are available an SMP license will be used.  Suggest you read over the CMR Premises Guide linked in my first reply, as well as the TMSPE Deployment Guides linked in my later replies.

How are you creating the ad-hoc conference that is consuming an SMP license?  In order to use a PMP license, you must use one's CMR that is configured to use it.
