Cannot login to C40 CODEC via console

Hello all,

when trying to access the C40 via console, the "login" pop up and I'm able to type the login but when I hit "enter" nothing happens and the display is not showing where to put the password; is there any ways that I can reset this C40 CODEC?

please advice.

The C40 may have a setting in it once it has booted to disable the SerialPort

xConfiguration SerialPort Mode: Off

Are you able to connect to the endpoint via telnet/ssh/http/https to see the config to check whether the serial port is disabled or not?

I see you have FIPS mode enabled. I would check your browser and make sure it is at least TLS1.1 or higher.

Well spotted.  I missed that.   With FIPS mode enabled, telnet and HTTP will also be disabled, so you'll need to hit the browser with HTTPS or use SSH (assuming it's enabled).

If FIPS mode was accidently activated an you need to recover the endpoint, you will need to perform a factory reset to get it back to normal.

telnet, ssh, https are not working as there is no activity on LAN port on the CODEC (port and switch that I used are working fine);
It was the main reason I was trying to do factory reset.
I managed to do "disconnect *#*#01# " using remote but there is no change LAN port and on console access.
Another thing is that I can no longer browse in setting using the remote.
is there anything else that I can try?

The "disconnect *#*#01# " command just moves the on-screen display/menus to the HDMI 1 output, it doesn't do any other sort of reset which is why none of the other behaviour has changed.   If you can no longer see any menus on the screen then it was this remote sequence that changed it, and you've likely got your display connected to the DVI port instead.  Using "disconnect *#*#02# " should send the OSD to the DVI port instead of the HDMI.

For the rest of your issues, it looks like a factory reset is going to be your best option.  You can do this via the serial port, but only for a short period of time after a reboot.

Instead of loggin in with the "admin" user, log in with the user "factoryreset".  Once logged in, issue the "xCommand SystemUnit FactoryReset Confirm: Yes" command, then reboot the device with "xCommand Boot".

this bring me back to my first challenge: the console is not taking any input before at least 5 minutes sometimes more. I tried "factoryreset" but nothing happens.
The time it takes to allow input is too long and even when I try user "admin" I can't reach the password input I think there is an issue on console access
I used putty, secureCRT and Tera Term and the result is same.
I saw someone who had the same issue like me on the forum but his post didn't get any suggestion...

I'm guessing that you have your C40 connected to the network when you're trying these steps.

Try again without the network cable connected so any CUCM (or other management system on the network) cannot change the configuration on the device before you get on to it via the console.
