Hi,
Please help me for resolving the query of one of our client:
Client has 2 locations and all connected with MPLS connectivity.
Client is already using Polycome for Location A and now they are interested for TelePresence ; the biggest concern from the client is the the COMPATIBILITY issue.
I came to know that TelePresence Interoperability Protocol[TIP] is able to interoperate with any third party video solution .
Can Ploycom users join the conference initiated by TelePresence?
Please let me know what all licenses are required for interoperability and is there any server required for TIP, what is the connectivity and the integrated part on Polycom and TelePresence?
Any URL/document is aprreacited.
Many thanks for the reply in advance,
regards,
Rashmi

Hi Rashni,
Cisoc Telepresence sytem can integrate with other third party systmes in three ways
1- using a MCU/CUVC and tis support SD and HD depends on the MCU type
you need CTMS in telepresence to talk to the MCU and the MCU talk to the third parity/GK
2- using Telepresnece Server with TIP protocol

Q. What is the benefit of adopting TIP for video conferencing vendors?
A. By implementing TIP, vendors can:
• Provide the better immersive experience that customers expect from a telepresence experience
• Achieve multi-screen interoperability
• Take advantage of either MCU or switching architectures
• Promote their equipment into Cisco TelePresence and Cisco Unified Communications deployments

3- using MXE which in this case you can not only integrate with other VCs but also you can do video transcoding

Hi,
For TIP do we need any additional server to implement on?
I have a client requirement of integrating Life Size and Tandberg , so that Tandberg endpoints can attend meetings initiated by Life Size or vice versa and also, both Life Size and Tandberg Endpoints can call each other?
Please advice!

Hi Manish,
ift is not CTS Telepresence i mean CTS 1x00 or 3x00 or Tx
just C series or EXx0 for example i think you can integrate without the use of Telepresence Server for basic call and VC meetings
also with Codian MCU you can stil invite and join external endpoints as long as you have the right integration
for example of the other side they use/support SIP then just have a SIP between the VCS and the other end
if its H323 only then use H323 for integration and configure the rules and dial plan for this to work
similar idea to integrating with CUCM
