Hello,
does Cisco Video Advantage use H.264 - SVC (Scalable Video Coding)?
If there is not enough bandwith for a video-session, I have the feeling that the codec reduces the bitrate during the session.
Then the quality of the video is not the best one anymore. In this case I believe that the codec selectively suspends coding for some enhancement layer.
Can someone agree with my ideas?
Kind regards!

CUVA 2.2 does not support SVC per the data sheet for the product: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/partner/prod/collateral/video/ps7190/ps5662/data_sheet_c78-581998.html
If the video quality is degrading mid-call it is likely a result of lost video frames. You may want to look at this technote for some diagnostics info: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/partner/products/sw/voicesw/ps556/products_tech_note09186a00802373ff.shtml

Thank you for your response.
In the data sheet that you have mentioned above, I can find that CUVA supports the H.264 Codec.
Does this mean that CUVA does not support H.264-SVC?
In my tests, I have not detect any packet loss even if the video quality is degrading mid-call.
I have the feeling that the codec uses scalable video coding because if there is not enough bandwith, it degrades the quality of video and need less bitrate to transport the video data over the IP-Network.
Can anybody agree with me?
Regards!
