Codec S/W Update

RS1601763J2
Level 1
Level 1

I have a Room Kit that has a software version mis-match with the quad camera.  Went to Cisco and downloaded the "recommended" update which, according to the release notes, addressed this problem.  Upon uploading the software update the codec utility comes back with the error " file to large".  The downloaded software update is almost 3gb.  anybody got any ideas?

What's the exact file name of your downloaded file?

Maybe you downloaded the device pack file, which is for installing on CUCM. And not for direct update of the Endpoint.

cmterm-ce10_8_2_5.k3.cop.sgn  This is what downloaded.

That file is the one that has all the software for all the endpoints in it - you need to download the one that is starts with cmterm-s53xxx - that should only be around 1.5Gb in size.   If you still have issues uploading this version, you may be running a very old software release on your endpoint, so you will need to download the "step-upgrade" pkg file and upgrade to that first before then going to the newer version.

Then you have the wrong file. This is the file for CUCM. So that CUCM gets the new firmware installed and endpoints can download it from CUCM (all ".cop.sgn" or ".cop.sha512" files are for CUCM). You need a different type of file. E.g. ".pkg"

Where do you get these .pkg files.  All we saw were the .cop files on the site we get our downloads from.

A .pkg file isn't appropriate for a Room Kit codec.  You should use the .cop.sgn file.  Make sure you pick the one that is appropriate for your codec model (and not the large one that includes all the models).  If you are still having issues with the size warning message, that is the only time you may need to use a .pkg file as a "Step Upgrade" - ie, upgrade to the StepUpgrade.pkg, then upgrade to the proper .cop.sgn file for your codec.  The Step Upgrade is available at Software Download - Cisco Systems similar to all the other versions.
