Connecting laptop to VC and projector at the same time

Subject:  Connecting laptop to VC and projector at the same time

We have a laptop which has a VGA connector and a HDMI connector.

We would like to connect:

* HDMI to projector - to show people in the room

* VGA to Tandberg 95mxp - to share with VC participants

When both are connected, VC is showing "PC Not Connected".

Does the user need to buy a device which will split the output?  I.e. can the laptop only connect to one output source?  It is confusing as this doesn't seem to be an issue with monitors.

TANDBERG 95 MXP doesn't have VGA or HDMI connectors, refer to the TANDBERG MXP Install Guide for reference.  You'll need to use a DVI-HDMI adapter or cable to connect to the projector, and a VGA-DVI adapter or cable to connect to the laptop for presentation content.

Hi Patrick,

Sorry for the confusion.  Here is the configuration:

* Tandberg 95mxp codec's "PC DVI-IN" has a DVI-VGA adaptor.  Adaptor is then connected to a VGA cable to the laptop's VGA port.

* Projector has a HDMI port and cable is connected to laptop's HDMI port.

What exactly do you expect to see on the projector?

If you want to see the participants of the video conference on the projector, you need to connect the MXP's DVI output to the projector.

Hi Patrick,

We want the content of the laptop to go to the VC and the projector.

But what is happening is the laptop is showing on the projector only, and the VC is showing "PC not connected".  If I remove the HDMI to the projector, the VC gets the image.

I have the laptop set to "Duplicate" the image to all sources (START + P).

Sounds as if the laptop only supports one of those outputs being connected at one time, you will need to use a splitter to split the video so it can go to both.

The typical configuration is to have the MXP display on the projector and connect the laptop to the MXP, just like in the install guide linked earlier.  When you send presentation content to the MXP it will display for those in the video conference and locally on the screen for those in the room.  How the MXP displays the video conference and the presentation content on the screen together is up to how you have the MXP configured, there is a page in the MXP F9 User Guide that goes over using the screen as a PC display.
