Hello William -

Which version of TCS do you have, 1st or 2nd generation appliance?

You might be hitting bug CSCtz98025.  The fix is in S5.3.1, which is only supported on the 2nd generation TCS only.  If you have a 2nd generation TCS, you can upgrade to S5.3.1 without any need of a release key, however I'd suggest you go straight to S5.3.2 which is the most recent release for that generation TCS.

If you have a 1st generation TCS, unfortunately it's past the point where Cisco will support it, and I'd recommend you either migrate to the latest 3rd generation appliance or even virtual TCS.

Patrick is Right. This is a known issue and quite a few bugs were opened for this. We had come across a particularly annoying issue of audio drop during middle of recording for one of the customers. That was fixed with release 5.3.2. Also, that customer tried a loaner 6.0 version and they never faced this issue with the 6.x.

So, as Patrick suggested, if you have a 1st gen server, you need to go for a newer TCS and upgrade it to 5.3.2 or 6.x.

We use to face the audio issue ourselves, after upgrading to S5.3.1 we never had the issue again.  We were running a 2nd Gen appliance, since then we've upgraded to virtual TCS running 6.x software.  The migration cost from appliance to virtual isn't actually that expensive, less than $5k for a single TCS for us.

Something else to note, because you're running S5.x software, it also means you're running Windows Server 2003 which is end of support this year.  If you migrate to either 3rd Gen or virtual TCS, it will use Windows Sever 2008 R2.
