DX80 DUAL MONITOR ISSUE

Chet Cronin

I have a old DX80 and a new recent DX80.   The HDMI rear outputs are different in that the old DX80 had an HDMI output to a second monitor and the new one had the HDMI port but it's now not supported.

We wanted to connect a second 55" monitor and send the VTC far end up to that second monitor.   The EX90 does it with not issues?

Is the new DX80 roll out eliminating that feature?   If not how can I enable the second monitor feature and what CE version do I have to install to support it ??

The second HDMI output was enabled on the old Android software, but only at a very low frame rate (due to some internal software trickery to make it work).

This functionality was disabled completely in the CE code. so it is not possible, and given the workaround to make it work in the old software, it's unlikely this will return in the current hardware.

Hey Wayne, the Sales training says you can add an additional monitor to the DX80, for things like the participants "Brady Bunch"  video view.  That would be very useful when viewing content, to be able to see the participant's faces as well.

Is the Sales/Partner training out of date?  It's in SaaS_Authorization_Training_-_Webex_Meetings_-_Module_2_-_Part_2_of_5_-_Video at about 6:11.  You can see it below.  I want that!  It would be sad if it's not supported.

That is really old information - the DX80 only supported the additon of a second monitor when running the ancient Andrioid software, and only at a limited frame rate.  It does not work at all under the CE code.  If you want dual monitors on a device with a desktop form factory, you need to consider the Webex Desk Pro.

This option should also still be available with the EX90 with the appropriate option key installed.

@Chet Cronin mentioned that he has no issues with the EX90 in his original post.  Unfortunately the EX90 went End of Sale on 2 August 2017, so for those people who want something in a similar form factor, the DX80 is really the only option currently available for purchase, but this multi-screen functionality does not exist on the DX80 due to hardware limitations.

I got this fixed... I stopped using my DX80 and went to ebay and purchased an EX90 for a hundred bucks! Much better picture quality as well. ;-)
