External URI dialling from CUCM

Dear All,

I currently have a lab setup for communication between Cisco CUCM and the Cisco VCS. Below is what I have been able to achieve to far

Call from CUCM to endpoints registered to the VCS

Calls from endpoints registered to the VCS to endpoints registered to the CUCM

What I want to achieve is external URI dialling from the CUCM to external domains via the VCS Expressway.

If for example I dial charles@externaldomain.com, it get resolved to charles@ip-address of VCS (configured on the trunk between the CUCM and the VCS). This I know is a default behavior.

I need to know how I can modify the CUCM such that it deliver the exact address I am trying to dial i.e. charles@externaldomain.com to the VCS without any modification done

Regards,

Osho

What version of CUCM and VCS are you currently running?

What is your CUCM and VCS setup/detail as in:

  • CUCM: VCS SIP Trunk (SIP trunk Profile and SIP Trunk Security Profile)
  • CUCM: Route Patterns
  • CUCM: SIP Route Patterns
  • CUCM: SIP Normalization Rule applied to the trunk
  • VCS Control: Can you attach a search history output

Thanks heathrw

I checked my search rules and realised that the calls were sent with the :5060 appended.

I created a transform to strip this off and calls to external domains are now successful.

Thanks for pointing this out.
