We have two MCUs (4501), one has 6 ports and the other has 12 ports. We would like the one with 6 ports to be selected when it has available resources and then the other one. As it is now the 12 port MCU is always selected first. We have Cisco TMS that controls all the meetings but I have not been able to see an option there to define this priority but I am sure this is possible :-) Hope someone has a clue for us to go after :-)
Thanks.

The logic is very complex. I know it quite well, but it is very hard to give a general summary. The "Routing" chapter of the TMS 14.4 admin guide contains a lot of useful information that could get you started.
By the way, I think I have an idea of how you can deprioritize your 12 port MCU: Create a new IP Zone, and add the 12 port MCU to it. Add no other systems to the new IP Zone. Being in a separate IP Zone gives the MCU a huge penalty when TMS is calculating which MCU to use, so the 6 port MCU should then be preferred.

You can only set the order of preference, go to Administrative Tools/Configuration/Conference Settings/Advanced/Preferred MCU Type in Routing and select the MCU you want to the first one available.

Hi,
There is no way to force TMS's routing logic always to prefer one TelePresence MCU over another TelePresence MCU.

Hi Kjetil,
there looks to be some logic in it as it always select the same. Do you know on what that is based? Is it then perhaps the VCS that controls it?
Thanks.

I have set mine to always use one specific MCU as the preferred first choice, but didn't realize this is only available when there's two different types of MCUs involved, which is what we have. :)
