How to make the PTZ4K camera follow a speaker dynamically?

Hello,

We have a Room Kit EQ with Cisco PTZ 4K with SENNHEISER TEAM CONNECT CIELING 2 MICROPHONE. I don't understand why the PTZ4K camera can't follow a person who speaks while moving around the room. The camera remains static and can only follow the person who speaks within the predefined frame.

How to make the PTZ4K camera follow a speaker dynamically?

In short - you can't, the PTZ4K does not have microphones for audio triangulation. The predefined frame (aka the presenter zone) works (when enabled) by facial recognition, part of the presenter track feature. How big is your room - was a quad cam not an option?

Hello,

There are two SENNHEISER TEAM CONNECT CIELING 2 MICROPHONES. From my understanding, both microphones can also do audio triangulation.

While the microphones can do triangulation (so they can provide a clearer audio signal to the codec), they do not integrate at all with the video, so there is no way they can tell the codec where to point a camera.   The PTZ4K camera tracking is configured separately, and as @PJMack mentioned, works by the codec analysing the incoming video signal (and has nothing to do with the incoming audio from the microphones, especially from a third-party microphone).  The camera will track someone while they are on the "stage", but not once they leave the defined area.  See Set up PresenterTrack for Board and Room Series for some more info on how this is set up.

If you use the newer Cisco Ceiling Microphone Pro, then the video tracking and audio tracking can be combined for better tracking of active speakers.

  • PTZ cameras alone cannot do true speaker tracking, as they lack built-in intelligence.

  • Presenter tracking is possible when the PTZ camera is integrated with an intelligent codec system (e.g., Cisco Room Kit).

  • How it works:

    • The room is divided into predefined audio zones (Zone A, B, C, etc.).

    • Microphones detect voice activity in a zone.

    • The codec analyzes the audio input and identifies which zone is active.

    • The codec sends commands to the PTZ camera to move and focus on that zone.

  • The system doesn’t track the individual speaker, just the location (zone) where the voice is coming from.

Refer to the link below, suggest making use of custom macros to automate this.
