Is it possible to factory default an EX series product that doesn’t boot up?

I’ve had several situations where an EX would just go in a reboot loop but there is no serial port on this model to try changing software image.

EX90 has RJ45 interface base console port located on the bottom left corner of the unit (from front view).

You will need the cable and pin assignment is available from https://supportforums.cisco.com/docs/DOC-24305.

EX-series Endpoint support “Factoryreset” from root shell, if switching image doesn’t help.

hi,

You can use the power button located at the left bottom corner of the unit to do factory default.   See method below (differs base on software version you use)

TC5.1 and later

1. When the unit is off, press and hold the power button

2. Wait until the power LED goes dark and then light up again (approximately 10 seconds).

3. Then release the power button and press it twice.

4. The system will boot up and display a confirmation message on the video screen if the process was successful.

Prior to TC5.1

1. Unplug power cable

2. Replug power cable

3. Imediately when the green led in the bottom left corner lights up, press and hold the power button for 10 seconds (the led will turn off), until the green led lights up again.

4. Push the power button twice within two seconds (two short pushes)

However, depending on the what causes you unit from not booting up propely, factory default might/might not resolve the issue.
