Hey Community,
I've to migrate a expressway c and expressway e from one be6k server with esxi free edition to another be6k server with esxi.
After I exported the virtual machine and imported it on the new system the expressway has a newly generated serial number and therefore all my licenses are gone ...
within the docu it is recommended to migrate a expressway with a vcenter ...
has anyone a hint for me?
Thanks for support :)
best regards, thomas

The only supported method is using vMotion, exporting the VM is the same as copying it and as such will generate a new serial number as you've seen, refer to the "Supported Features" and "Unsupported Features" in the Expressway Install Guide on pg 17.
I don't know anything really about VMWare, but is it possible to join the two environments together so you can migrate the VM using vMotion?

Why didn't you do a cold migration??

Hey :)
thanks for your answer ... what is a "cold migration"? :)
... I have no chance to install a vcenter in the environment.
