MX800 and MX700 screen flickering when laptop plugged into HDMI

I've had a 2 users report that they have screen flickering on our MX700 and MX800 devices. Everybody else that uses the cisco endpoints hasn't had issue. This makes me think it is a CPU/PC related issue but I wanted to check with the community in case I am wrong. One of the users experiencing the issue said she was able to unplug and replug in hdmi to PC and that fixed the issue. The other user has a MAC and an hdmi adapter so could be the adapter if he bought some cheap one from china

What adapters/cables/extenders are between the laptop and the MX?
Apple MacBooks will enable HDCP if detected by the initial hop. This is a common problem if an HDMI extender is used and HDCP support is not disabled.
USB-C to HDMI adapters have also been quite problematic. Apple’s OEM adapter works well with Crestron extenders but not FSR ribbon cables where Kramer/Liberty adapters seem to fair better.
