No Audio/Video Issues Between Cisco SX20 / C20 <--> Polycom 7000

Hi Team

I need you help in troubleshooting this Issue. When I make a call from Polycom to Cisco units or Cisco to Polycom I see a successful connection but either one side does not receive the Audio or Video.

So, to relove the Video Issue I added H.264 HD video protocol in the Capset Filter on C20 and SX20 and I did not have this Video issues again as the cisco units now started negociating only H.263pp Video Protocol.

In the Same way to avoid the Audio issue I added AACLD;G.729AB;G.729;G.729A;G.722 these Audio Algorithms in the Capset filter Field on Cisco Units. Buy doing this I was expecting both the Cisco and Polycom to use G.7221 Audio Protocol but still I have Audio issues today when Cisco is talking to Polycom.

Do we have a solution for this ?

Thanks,

Pavan

Hi Pavan,

We had a similar issue between Cisco Jabber (Video) and Polycom VSX 8000 using Cisco VCS infrastructure which interworks between SIP and H.323. We upgraded the Polycom VSX units to the last available software (9.0.6.2) and this seems to resolve the issue.

I didn't manage to take a full Network debug log on the Cisco VCS, although the only small difference I could see in the INFO log was to do with slightly different values WRT Marco Blocks (maxMBPS and MaxStaticMBPS) during the Capabilities setup from the call that worked (24) to the call that doesn't (40 - at least I think these were the values). I don't know if this would make this much of a difference and I couldn't find anything obvious in the Polycom release notes, but certainly upgrading to the latest version (even from a previous 9.x version) seemed to do the trick.

One last thing however - at least I thought until a recent test. I thought calls initiated from the Polycom VSX negotiated with H.264 at 720x480 (or 576), but calls initiated from Jabber negotiated at H.263 352x288 transmit, and H.263++ same resolution receive. However, the test call I have just completed showed H.263/H.263++ no mater which end initiated the call.

We have not made any changes to the Capset on the CODECs

Again, this might not be applicable to your situation as we are using VSC infrastructure and interworking between SIP-->H.323, but we certainly showed a similar problem.

For refernce:

VCS - x7.1

Jabber Video - 4.6

We also had similar issues with the Polycoms and our Cisco endpoints (C60, EX90, SX20 - Anything running TC Series software).  It has been acknowledged as a problem by the Cisco TAC guys that we worked with on the issue, and a bug (CSCuh27649) has been logged.

As a workaround, downgrading the Cisco endpoint to TC6.0.1 or earlier fixed the problem for us, or making the call via SIP rather than H.323.

Today we were provided a copy of the Release Candidate of the new TC6.2.1 software.  From our testing, the issues previously seen have been resolved in this new version.
