Hi, we have a MSE8510 MCU and we would like to know if and when it is recommended to install the Telepresence Server software (TS3.1) instead of current software (4.4)
Is the MSE8510 not having new releases in the future? will the Telepresence Server be the future only MCU ? Which users would benefit from the replacement and which are recommended to stay as they are?
Thanks for your help!
Regards
Y

Hi Yolanda
It is now possible to install TS software on a MSE8510 blade.
There are however considerations that you need to be taken into account.
There are however nice features like being able to cluster an MSE8710 TPS Server and a MSE8510 blade now running TS software.
You can also cluster 4 x TS Software blades but only 3 normal 8510 MCU's.
I would also imaging that the type of endpoints you have deployed would determine which software you should opt for.
If you have fully immersive system as well as standard endpoints the TPS software would be best.
If you only have standard endpoints then I see no problem with staying on the current 8510 platform.
Below is a guide on replacing the MSE8510 software.

Hi Yolanda,
Thanks for pasting your query to Cisco Support Forum.
From MSE 8510 , you cannot upgrade from 4.4 to TPS 3.1 as the hardware of 8510 and TPS is different and the functionalities of both the boxes are different as well.
8510 is used as a MCU bridge for mostly Tandberg, Polycom , Non Immersive Systems where as 8710 is used as a MCU bridge for both Tandberg and Cisco Telepresence Systems. ( Immersive and Non Immersive Systems).
There are future releases of 8510 on the roadmap. May be Cisco would answer this when there next release is due.
I hope you got the answer to your query.
Please rate if thread stands answered.
Thanks,
