hello

I have been setting up a voice over ip phone for sometime and need some help as what else i need to add to it

so far i have the phone, an mcs server(mcs 7816 I4), and the cisco switch.  I was wondering if there is anything else i need to make it work(i.e. a gateway), also im trying to get some software and the mcs server i have requires cucm 4.3(according to the manuel), which i can't seem to find i've been trying other cucm software but i havn't had much luck, any tips as to where to find 4.3?  Anyway, thanks for the help and anything you can offer to this senario would be great.

thank you

richard pititto

Hi,

1. You need either SIP trunk or FXO or ISDN to connect you to external PSTN world.

2. CUCM and CME both are call agents and serve the same requirements but to different market segment. You can use either one depends on your requirement.

CUCM 4 is too old bucket. Latest version running is 11. You will definitely need gateway to connect your phone system to PSTN world. You should include Cisco partner which can help you in gathering all requirements and suggest the solution accordingly.
