Surface Pro 2 and DX80

Need an assist - when I hook up my DX80 to my Surface pro 2, the keyboard quits working.  I'm using the factory cables, one connected to an HDMI adaptor and plugged into the USB 2 port on the Surface Pro 2 and the other cable plugged into the standard USB port on the Surface Pro 2.  I'm also using the standard cover/keyboard sold with the Surface Pro.  Any thoughts?

Which keyboard isn't working - the DX80 or the Surface? If it's the latter try simply not connecting the USB cable from the DX80, if you are only using the DX as a display you don't need the USB cable.
