Take a look at the SX20 datasheet:

Kindly confirm if we upgrade version to CE 8.2 will the TRC5 remote work?

While the TRC5 remote will work with CE8 or CE9, there are many buttons which are no longer supported (and you will get a message on the screen when you push one of them saying so).   It's highly recommended that you purchase a TRC6 or move to a Touch10/Room Navigator for best compatibility and functionality.
