Hi, I found that after upgrading my sx20 to TC7.1.1, I couldn't select call protocol before dialing. If I select recent calls, there is an option called "edit before call" , however, when I click on it with remote control, it simply lets me to edit the dialing number but not allows me to chose which protocol to be used. I can select call protocol before dialing on web interface. How can I chose the call protocol when dialing with remote control ?? Thanks

Hmm, you're absolutely correct, never noticed this before as we normally don't use the remote for call connections. Anyways, been playing with it for a while this morning and no, the call protocol cannot be specified or edited, only the call rate by using the tab at the bottom of the screen. (This is using TC7.2.1).
Guess configuring the system to use "Auto" as the default call protocol and let the system decide what to use will be your best option.
You'll otherwise have to create entries in the local phonebook through the web gui and specify protocols etc there.
Suggest you contact your local Cisco rep and submit a feature request to have this option available.

hi Jens ,
Thanks for your comment.
I also found that the auto select call protocol
doesn't always work. In my case, my sx20 is using direct h.323 call mode while registered on cucm using sip protocol.
when i use sx20 to call my ip phone which is also
registered on same cucm server with ip address and let sx20 to pick up a proper protocol for me, it finally chooses sip protocol
and the call failed. it is expected to be a h.323 call right? finally i forced the default protocol to h.323 and all works properly.

Danny,
I don't believe Cisco supports having H323 enabled when registered to CUCM. In fact, everytime you re-provision the SX20 with CUCM, it should disable H323 on it's own.
Thanks,
Justin

hi Justin,
It does work only if set SX20 default call protocol to H.323 rather than auto. If set it to auto , SX20
will use SIP as default that makes ip call fail
Thanks,
Danny
