SX80 Question

Now that C40's and C60's will be end of sale this summer, SX80's will be the systems of choice for new conference room builds, but my customers have quite an attachment to the remote control.  Will the SX80 come out with a remote control for the system?  Will there be a different system that will have a remote control come out soon?  In the facility I work, cell phones/tablets are not authorized within the building, so the "proximity app" is not an option.  It's difficult using a tethered touch panel in a conference room where the tables are constantly being reconfigured.

Does anyone else have this complaint?

Thanks!

From what I've observed, all new endpoints except the SX10 and SX20, use the Touch 10 as a remote control replacement.

Considering they just released an entirely new set of endpoints last year replacing older ones such as the C40 and C60, it might be awhile before we see anything new.  Unless they eventually release a replacement for the C90, but I would assume it would be similar to the SX80 using the Touch 10 with no physical remote control.

Regarding users are accustom to the remote control, it comes down to training and reallocating to a new way of using the newer systems, getting use to the features the Touch 10 provides over the remote control.  I agree cables aren't nice to have to work around, but not something that can always be avoided.

UPDATE:

Cisco C90 Codec was just announced EOS on Sept 11, 2015 - eos-eol-notice-c51-734175.

As Patrick has said, other than the really basic devices (SX10/SX20) everything these days is moving towards the touch controller.  Given the user interface redesigns - the touch controller is the only option going forwards, unless you want to use a 3rd party control product.

As others have stated, SX20 would be the closest thing.  You might need a few adapters etc to get the same interface options as the C-Series.

That said, I am a massive fan of the touch panel - the fact you get feedback, phonebook entries, layout control etc actually show up on the touch pad makes it a no-brainer in my opinion.

We use AMX control panels for all of our SX80 systems - and a lot of the C-series as well depending on room size, some are fixed on a lectern, some are wireless and sits in a wall-mounted docking station from where they can be easily undocked and used anywhere in that particular room.
