SX80 with a 12x camera

Current documentation indicates that an SX80 will support a single 12x camera (with limitations, like no daisy chaining support, and no software upgrades from the codec).

It does not stipulate which 12x camera, and I recall that there are 2 generations of this camera.  However, I don't recall what the difference between the cameras was, and I don't seem to be able to find documents that will tell me.

So I'm looking to find out if the SX80 will support even the 1st generation of camera or not.  It looks like SKUs are cts-phd-1080p12xs2= and cts-phd-1080p12xs=.

I've a client looking to re-use their 12x cameras in some capacity, and these would be gen 1 cameras bought with C40's at the time.

Yes, both generations of 12x cameras are supported. The only difference between the Gen1 & Gen2 cameras was the HD-SDI chipset.
Thanks,
