TC Endpoints RTP Ports Range Changed After Registering with CUCM

Hello Community,

We have SX80 endpoints running TC7.3.2 and registered to CUCM 11.

By default the TC endpoints RTP ports range 2326-2487 UDP. After registering with CUCM, the range of ports were changed to 16384-32766. I believe CUCM is changing the settings of the codec.

Based on the guide http://www.cisco.com/c/dam/en/us/td/docs/telepresence/endpoint/codec-c-series/tc7/administration-guide/administering-endpoints-running-tc72-on-ucm1051.pdf I could not see any setting to do with the RTP ports.

This is an issue for us because on the firewall rules, we have configured and fixed the ports for endpoints to use the default range 2326-2487 UDP. Since these endpoints and the video infrastructure (Telepresence Servers, TCS, VCS) are on different network separated by firewall. Right now, when recording and joining to conference bridge there is no media since the ports were changed. When I change to default port range, there is no issue with media. I can record and call to conference bridge hosted by TP server successfully. And if i will hit the refresh button on the web GUI of the codec, the settings will change to 16384-32766.

Is there any setting I could check on CUCM side?

Thanks in advance.

Yes, that's true. Once your video endpoint is provisioned and registered on the CUCM, the CUCM will over right the default settings of your endpoint. This depends on the SIP profile that was used and applied for your endpoint. You need to check the SIP Profile configuration of the CUCM applied for your endpoint. In your case if it is SX80, check the SIP profile for SX80 and edit the start and stop media ports. This will be the RTP ports range.

In your case :

Start Media Port: 2326

Stop Media Port: 2487

Hi Acevirgil,

Thank you for providing the answers. Issue was resolved after checking the SIP profile and yes the ports range was set to 16384-32766.  The Standard SIP Profile being used is not editable so I created new SIP profile configured with the default RTP ports (2326-2487)  for our SX80 endpoints and assigned to them. It works perfectly!
