We have multiple SX20's registered to CUCM 8.6.2 and MX series registered to VCS via TMSPE. We have all the functionality working as expected as far as dialing, multi-site calling, and layouts. The last piece I'd like to get working is the contact photos. The SX20's use CUCM for the directory, and CUCM in turn uses LDAP. Is there a way to get the contact photos to work in this type of setup? If not in 8.6.2, maybe in 9.1?

Hi Paul,
Unfortunately, it is not possible even with CUCM 9.1. The phonebook feature of the CUCM it is not much advanced, you don't even have an option to create phonebook groups, for example.
I don't know if Cisco has plans to add this feature in particular in the future, I have participated in some Cisco events and I didn't hear anything about this matter, phonebook with photos. I know that Cisco is improving the support for TC Endpoints registered to CUCM, so you can expect richer features in the future, however, up to version 9.1, there is no such thing as phonebook with photos.

Paulo Souza

It seems silly for the SX to "support" contact photos but not support connecting to any native platform that will push them. You can't register the SX20 to VCS with TMSPE, which basically means teh only options are CUCM and VCS (as a dumb SIP device). The entire UI for the SX20 (and really all TC-supported units) indicates support for contact photos. I've seen numerous marketing demos showing this off, but it's more and more soundling like vapor.
Thanks for the comments. I'll be forwarding this to our Telepresence rep at Cisco for further insight.
