VCS Control to Expressway Core - Backup / Restore

I am in the process of replacing an old VCS Control appliance.

Is it possible to backup the old VCS Control and restore the backup on an Expressway Edge?

The only reference I found was in documentation is : 

"Backups can only be restored to a system that is running the same version of software from which the
backup was made."

Any help would be appreciated.

Please note, I mistyped the above.  I am migrating from VCS Control to Expressway Core.

You can only restore the backup to the same version.
