I believe that you cannot buy the software without the camera but if you somehow get the software I think the camera is just a rebranded Logitech USB 400. (at least that is what it looks like) If that is the case then I don't see why it shouldn't work. Anyone else with some better info? This is just a guess on my part.

I tried to use it with a QuickCam Pro 4000 with no success

Well there you go. Looks like Cisco to a page from Micro$oft and you have to buy the entire package. Oh well. It was just a guess. :)

Same here. I used Logitech Quick Cam Pro 4000 and the advantage software would not detect the camera.

Could it be possible that Cisco has installed into webcam wideband video support ?
Which companys also has webcam with wideband video codecs support ?

VT advantage will only work with a Cisco branded webcam. In case you wonder why, there are too many webcams available and with that a potential for compatibility issues.

Since there hasn't been any activity on this in a while, has anyone got this to work with a logitech cam? If so, what model?

I have since learned that the camera is not in fact just a re-branded Logitech USB 4000. The casing is the same but there are internal circuitry differences. I would imagine that you could hack the registry on fool the PC into thinking it was a Cisco Camera but it would probably be wiped out after every re-boot and have to be done over. I was able to by-pass the minimum system requirements for the software install by hacking the registry but it didn't matter that the setting went back to the original specs after a re-boot since it just watched for the install. I don't think the time and effort you are spending is worth the end result if you have to re-do the hack after every re-boot.
Just my 2 cents.
Hope this helps.

Hi,
I think it uses CDP, so it will not work without that.
