VT Advantage with NON Cisco webcam

it looks very funny that cisco VTA Advantage works only with cisco webcam

Sorry you can only use the Cisco VT Cam with the CVTA software.

But can use the cisco web cam with other video programs. ie - NetMeeting

While the Cisco VT Cam may be able to work with outher programs that utilize USB cameras, it is not officially supported. Cisco TAC will not recoginize this as a valid configuration since it is meant to primarily work with the Cisco VT Advantage Software Client.

Can you tell if the Cisco Web Camera will work with Microsoft Office Communicator? If so, how do you configure it? thank you.

The lastest version of the VTA software will make an attempt to recognize third party cameras. Of course, it is not officially supported by TAC. See the VTA readme for more details.

I can confirm that my low price usb cam is detected by VTA. I have a Logitech Quickcam Messanger and haver no problem with video check in VTA on Win XP SP2, in Win 2000 SP4 the cam is deteted but not working in the VTA video check.
