Hi,
We will be running a demo of Jabber externally, we have setup the relevent DNS records for our domain but what I need to know is what is required for a user in company A to talk to a user in company B via the Jabber client. We are aware we will need to add port forwarding to our CUP Server but this isnt yet configured.
Also will the configuration below cover IM, presence, file sharing, etc?
Host TTL Type Data
_xmpp-client._tcp.domain.net 86400 SRV 5 0 5222 mail.domain.net
_xmpp-server._tcp.domain.net 86400 SRV 5 0 5269 mail.domain.net
Thanks.

Hi Dean,
Which version of Jabber do you use?
If you use the new Jabber for iPad, here are the required port configurations:
CUCM/VCS Registration | TCP | TCP | 5060/5061 (secure) | SIP port for CUCM/VCS Registration |
Internet Calling/UCM config file retrieve | TFTP HTTPS | UDP TCP | 69 6970 | Connects to the TFTP server to download device configuration files. |
Internet Calling/UCM device list retrieve | HTTPS | TCP | 8443 | Connects to CCMCIP server to get a list of currently assigned devices. |
IM | XMPP | XMPP | 5269 | Federation |
Media | RTP | UDP | 16384-32766 | Range specified by CUCM in device configuration file Default values |
Directory | LDAP LDAPS | TCP | 389 636 | LDAP with optional TLS LDAPS |
Unity Connection Voicemail | VMRest | TCP | 443 7080 | VMRest through https to retrieve and manage voicemail |
Audio/Video server (Connect service) | TCP | TCP SSL UDP | 80 443 5101 | If direct connection is not possible due to firewall |
Peer to Peer (Connect service) | TCP | TCP/UDP | 1024- 65525 | Range specified in OrgAdmin>Configuration tab>P2P Port Settings |
DNS | 53 |
If you mean the other Jabber client (version 7, 8, 9, etc), please ask this question in the Jabber forum (not Telepresence), or take a look here (iPhone):
Hope this helps,
Arne
