SX80 Power slowly flashing and steady alarm light

Hello Folks,

We have a codec that can't be factory reset, has a slow flashing power light and a steady alarm light on the front panel.

Secondary Ethernet isn't working, and I haven't had access to a com port cable in years...LOL

Any ideas where to start?

Hi,

If your device has a smartnet active i suggest that you open a case with Cisco TAC.

Hello Leonardo,

Thanks for that, unfortunately this unit has no warranty.

Hi,

Try these:

https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/docs/collaboration-endpoints/telepresence-codec-c60/118576-technote-mxseries-00.html

https://www.cisco.com/c/dam/en/us/td/docs/telepresence/endpoint/sx-series/tc7/administration-guide/sx80-administrator-guide-tc71.pdf

SerialPort Mode
Enable/disable the serial port (COM port).
Requires user role: ADMIN
Value space: <Off/On>
Off: Disable the serial port. On: Enable the serial port.
Example: SerialPort Mode: On SerialPort BaudRate
Specify the baud rate (data transmission rate, bits per second) for the serial port. The default value is 115200.
Other connection parameters for the serial port are: Data bits: 8; Parity: None; Stop bits: 1; Flow control: None.
Requires user role: ADMIN
Value space: <9600/19200/38400/57600/115200>
Range: Select a baud rate from the baud rates listed (bps). Example: SerialPort BaudRate: 115200

 Try again the factory reset.

Hello Leonardo,

Unfortunately I have no activity on that (RJ-45) port or the other two LAN and Touch 10 (RJ-45) ports.

It seems that the System Configuration > Network Port wasn't previously configured.  *sigh*

Thanks very much for your help.

Is there a way to hard reset these?  Not afraid to take things apart..

Thanks again

Hi,

take a look here about the factory reset:

Thanks for that,

I've tried that process many times without success.  Looking like I have a dead codec.

*sigh*

Is there an error guide available?

The front power LED is slowly blinking and the power LED is a steady red.

I had a problem similar to this. I happened to connect it to a cheap dhcp hub to try and see if it would pull an IP. It did and after it pulled the IP it started to work. One of the symptoms was that the touch 10 would keep rebooting itself. I have had several systems do this since upgrading to the latest firmware.

Thanks for the tip, I'll keep that in mind.

But...

I don't have any network activity on the Codec ports.  Starting to be convinced I have a dead codec.
