How easy is it to rename an existing TMS database or to create one from scratch that differs from the standard naming.
I can't seem to find any options to repoint to a new DB, and I wasn't sure if the install process would find the DB if it was something other than what the install document references.

In all previous versions the TMS database is called "tmsng" - this is not able to be changed.
In the latest version (TMS 14.4.2), when you run TMS tools, it appears that you are able to change it from "tmsng" (I haven't tried to confirm whether it works or not) as per the attached screenshot.

I think the name of the TMS database is hard coded to tmsng, I don't recall any way to rename it, or to specify your own database name during a TMS install.

The TMS 14.4.x Install Guide only gives you the option to specify an SQL server\instance, not the database name, according to the picture on pg 21. In the TMS 14.4.x Admin Guide on pg 298, they say the default TMS database name is tmsng, but you can change the name using TMS Tools, however they don't recommend it. In short, it says if you change the name, and plan to later upgrade TMS, the TMS installer only recognizes a database with the name of tmsng and no other name that you might change it to, which explains why the TMS installer doesn't give you the option to specify anything other than an SQL server\instance, and not a database name.
So, both myself and Wanye are correct in our statements. TMS is hardcoded to use tmsng, however they do give you the option to change it after it's installed using TMS Tools. However, since it's hardcoded in the installer to us tmsng, there isn't a real benefit to changing the name unless you want to make more work for yourself when you want to perform an upgrade in changing the database name back to the default tmsng.

It was Wayne's image of TMS Tools that prompted me to look in the admin guide, otherwise I wouldn't have thought about it myself.
