Add phone to corporate directory

Hello,

We use local users on our CUCM servers and do not sync with ldap.  Sometimes I would like to just add a phone but have it show in the directory but not have to create a user for the phone.  This way when we sync the users with unity we don't have to skip them or accidentally take up a unity license.

Is there any way to add just a phone to cucm and have it show up in the corporate directory?

Thanks,

Dan.

Dan,

If you are using the built in Corporate Directory then you need to create a end user. However, you do not need to associate a device and assign a primary extension. You only need a last name and a telephone number assigned (along with the user ID, password, and PIN).

As I recall, the import users function for Unity Connection relies on the Primary Extension field to be populated in CUCM. Since you don't need that field to add a Corporate Directory entry then I think you can add a user in CUCM without having it show up when you do import/sync from Unity Connection.
