we have Alcatel Lucent, IP Touch 4018 on our network connected using Cisco 3560G. now we are facing a problem as some of the IP phones are not powered up when connected to the switch. is there a limitation on the number of IP Phones connected to the switctch? previously we have been using Alcatel Switch and was working fine.

Many thanks for your input!

Hi Genet,

This issue is probably best moved to the IP Telephony forum, or possibly under LAN, Switching and Routing... however, what version of IOS is being used on the Cisco 3560G, and how much power over ethernet do these third party, Alcatel, IP phones actually consume?   You may want to double check you're not exceeding the "Total power dedicated to PoE" in Table 3 at the following URL:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/collateral/switches/ps5718/ps5528/product_data_sheet09186a00801f3d7d.html

Kind regards,

Craig

Hi Craig, thnaks for your time. the os version is

Cisco IOS Software, C3560 Software (C3560-IPSERVICES-M), Version

12.2(35)SE5, RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc1)

The power consumption seems much lower than what can be provided by the

Switch. the Alcatel-Lucent IP Touch phones consume from 3.68 to 4.05W power

based on their models. these are the models that we have.

IP Touch 4018 consumes 3.68w

IP Touch 4028 consumes 4.04w

IP Touch 4038 consumes 4.05w

for some time it was working fine, it is after a month that this problem

appeared.

Many thanks again!
