ATA 190 with FAX

Thomas P

Level 1

Hello,

I have a fax (Brother FAX-2920) connected to an ATA 190 and I cannot send or receive fax.

My CUCM is connected to the PSTN gateway with a SIP trunk.

FAX==>ATA190==SIP==>CUCM==SIP==>2911PSTN-GW==>E1

What I have done so far:

-Reduced the baud rate to the minumum on the fax machine

-Enabled the option Fax Error Correction Mode Override on the ATA port

-Collected some traces with RTMT. The debugs show that the CUCM does not received all the digits dialed from the fax machine. For example, if I dialed the number 00123456789 from the fax machine, on the traces I see that the number 001345789 is dialed or 0012345678 and so on...

Could you please help me with this issue? I'm running out of idea.

Thank you in advance.

Thomas.

we had the same issue with the ATA 190 - able to receive faxes and when dialing out - we get a fast busy.

we used the default settings but changed the Device Pool to G711 only.

make sure you have the MGRL set, SIP Profile to standard endpoints, and rest to default settings.

Did you ever figure this out? I'm having the same issue with FW version 1.1.2-05. Can make calls from ATA but not fax.

Hi Adam,

No we haven't. We decided to go back to a PSTN line to use the fax. These new ATA's are buggy as hell. Not sure why they decided to mess with a product that was working perfectly well in the past.

Dang, well I kinda figured that was the case. I purchased a few of the ATA190's in hope they would be better. Having issues with those now as well. Trying a new COP file in the morning to see if t will solve the problem...

By the way I figured this out using the NSE g711ulaw pass-thru.

1.) Firmware has to be on latest available

2.) i had to configure the ATA in CM with NSE G711ulaw pass-thru

3.) under the global Voice Service Voip on local GW>>

Voice service voip
 fax protocol none
 modem passthrough nse codec g711ulaw

Reset the ATA

Faxing worked for me after that.. **Note my gateways are h323, could be different for MGCP.
