Beginner - How to Enable TLS for SMTP on UC Apps

I've been asked to enable TLS for SMTP on all UC apps - CUCM, CUC, IM&P and CER. I'm a complete beginner, and aside from some documentation for Unity I can't seem to find anything at all regarding enabling TLS for SMTP on these platforms. Is this even supported? I know it's not usually necessary, as emails coming from these apps aren't sensitive, I'm just trying to do what I've been tasked with. I think we might be shutting down our unsecure SMTP server? Anyway, thanks!

Hello,

Unfortunately, SMPT over TLS is currently not supported for the Cisco UC products. Please refer to the below enhancement requests:

https://bst.cisco.com/bugsearch/bug/CSCut65883
https://bst.cisco.com/bugsearch/bug/CSCve74858

Hello,

same issue here, Port 25 and unauthenticated traffic to SMTP server will be disabled until end of the year in our company.

Are there any plans to add it to the pipeline? I have seen several feature requests, but nothing happened until now.

Any hint to solve it?

Thanks,

Not sure if this is still an issue for you but been researching this same topic as my company is moving everything to O365 so we're losing our on-premise smtp relay server.

So far, the only official documentation I've found regarding Secure SMTP or TLS with SMTP is a small section for CER's ER Group Settings to enable email notifications/alerts:

https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/voice_ip_comm/cer/12_5_1_su8/english/administration/guide/cer0_b_cisco-emergency-responder-administration-guide-1251su8/cer0_m_cer-administration-web-interface.html?bookSearch=true#CER0_RF_G928D7E4_00

The port number documented is the same port smtp.office365.com uses for TLS, now I just need to find the certs in question to set this up.
