Hi CUC guru,
I have a CUC security question. Can unity connection admin listen to other users voice message?
I don't see there is a way from admin page but at least there are two ways
1. change the user's password and login by the user's credential.
2. backup/restore or COBRAS the voice message. After backing up the message, the message.tar can be unzipped and then wav files are exposed. If the admin can restore the message on another system, then admin can listen to any messages.
Besides these two, any other ways that admin can listen the voice message?
Is there a solution to encrypt the message so that even admin can't listen to it?
Any advice or discussing is welcome.
Thanks in advance!
James

Depends on the type of Unity Admin. You can restrict the admin to read only, etc. But if the Admin has full control of the system, they can find a way to get to the voicemails. Typically, it would through using IMAP to download the contents of the users Inbox, or use the Web Inbox to login and see the messages.
You basically need to setup corporate policy and procedures with this. Think of the Exchange Admins.. they can basically ready any email account they want.

Thanks Tommer. We are outsourcing our UC, so we would like to know some details.
When you say go through IMAP or Web Inbox, it is just different ways of login method or access type. If admin wants to listen to user-A's message, admin needs to know user-A's password and login as user A, right? There isn't a backdoor for admin to listen to user-A's message without knowing or changing user-A's password, right?
Thanks
James
